Kick: Dil mein bhi nahi and samaj mein bhi nahi
Rest of the movie ordinary, banal, bland, mundane...A classic Sallu mindless poitboiler, in which there is nothing much to be written about. The script is by Saman Khan, for Salman Khan and of(f) Salman Khan. Templated stuff like the ppt templates which come with every MS office. His last couple of releases are on the same line. The only change, the lead lady changes, the periphery changes, the context pretty much remains the same and that is about it. The best part, when you watch pre release interviews or promo shows, where everybody is try is rationalise every mindless caper going on through out the film.
Am sure the movie will go onto make 100 or 200 or 300 crore. But, what a pity! I remember the endless masala potboilers that was churned out between mid 70's to mid 80's by the Manmohan Desai and Prakash Mehra duo. Everything they touched through their midas man, Amitabh Bacchan turned gold. So why am I being critical of these mindless Salman starrers. Simple, they lack charisma, charm, screen presence and that, undescribable feeling. I remember Coolie (remember this was Amitabh's comeback movie after the injury) and Amitabh's entry walking through on top of the train. An I saw Salman's entry in Kick and the whole cinema hall going into frenzy. No way does he match Amitabh's charisma, screen presence and everything else that meant showbiz. I understand audience has changed and the new generation will look for characters, that they relate to. However, the fact remains, it is a zero sum game and audience then and now yearn for a larger than life character and it is here, sorry Sallu Bhai, Big B scores.
Coming to the movie, one of the few movies of Salman where the plot seemed to be faintly present, but as they, for reasons best known to producers and the team behind the scenes it was all chopped and they went back to the one thing that does the trick, SALMAN KHAN, SALMAN KHAN and SALMAN KHAN. Lucky that Jacqueline and Randeeep Hooda got some screen space. But as I said at the start, wish Nawaz had got some more screen space. I think at the end of it Salman's screen presence and his charisma is too much of a resistance that is hard to resist. I agree on this fully. You can add in ordinary music, great photography, superb SFX and action sequence...
A movie worth watching on a TV rerun, rather than watching in theater. And if you are so hell bent on watching Salman, maybe a DVD rerun of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam would be better bet. I thought he was the best in that.
